Probate records contain information about family relationships and are of substantial value. Documents likely to be found in probate records include Wills, petitions for administration of an estate, bonds, inventories of estates, receipts from heirs and creditors, and other information related to the settling of an estate. Not all files contain Wills, especially if someone died intestate (died without leaving a Will).
